Americans are so ‘bougie’ they need Google to spell

The most misspelled word in America is “bougie.” No, the word itself isn’t fancy, it’s the actual word: B-O-U-G-I-E.

The website Unscramblerer.com put together the new info using Google search data from the first five months of this year, specifically targeting queries for “how do you spell” and “how to spell.”

The list goes on. We can’t spell “favorite,” “through,” “business,” “tomorrow,” “because,” “definitely,” “beautiful,” “niece” or “separate.”

Where it really gets interesting, however, is when the researchers break it down by state. In Florida, they can’t spell “school.” In Colorado, it’s “color.”

Look to Georgia to come up with a word that is legit hard to spell, “chihuahua.” Louisiana’s is “restaurant,” while both North Carolina and Virginia struggle with “spaghetti.”

Minnesota contributes another difficult one, “ukulele,” while Oregon’s is “diamond.” In Texas, it’s “recycle.”
