An airline passenger in Australia found themselves in hot water due to possession of hot cocoa.
According to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, the passenger’s bag was flagged for a suspicious item, which turned out to be a container of hot chocolate and a laser hair removal device.
Despite the harmless nature of the items, Australia’s Avalon Airport closed down for four hours while the passenger’s bag was investigated.
“The person who had the bag wasn’t too cooperative with us to start off with too, which made things a little bit difficult,” said Nick Uebergang of Victoria Police. “They probably could have averted things and we could have got out of here a little bit quicker.”
However, the passenger, who wished to be identified only as Sam, denied being uncooperative.
“I didn’t say anything insulting,” Sam says.
Sam was eventually cleared and released without charge, and the airport reopened.
We’re guessing after the long wait, though, that hot chocolate may not have remained so hot.
