Remember when Indiana Jones tried to snatch the Golden Idol by replacing it with a bag of sand in Raiders of the Lost Ark? Well, that’s basically what 28-year-old Jarrell Augustine, of Paramount, California, allegedly did.
According to the Irvine Police Department, Augustine is accused of swapping out the Minifigures in LEGO sets sold at Target with pieces of dried pasta.
“Target reported at least 70 thefts nationwide tied to the same suspect, stacking up about $34,000 in losses,” IPD writes in an Instagram post. “That’s a lot of missing pieces.”
“But like most bad builds, this one didn’t hold together,” the post continues. “IPD detectives snapped into action, conducted surveillance, and identified the suspect.”
Augustine was then arrested for grand theft.
“If your master plan involves swapping LEGOs for linguine, we can promise your plan will be cooked al dente,” IPD warns.
