San Diego (3-5-2) has lost five in a row and is winless in seven straight. Bonetig, a 25-year-old defender who made his seventh career appearance, put away a loose ball from the center of the area to cap the scoring. Anders Dreyer scored for San Diego in the 33rd minute.

LONDON (AP) — Sabastian Sawe of Kenya has become the first person to break the fabled 2-hour barrier in the marathon in a huge moment in sports history. Sawe smashed the men’s world record by 65 seconds in winning the London Marathon in 1 hour, 59 minutes and 30 seconds. The second-place finisher, Yomif Kejelcha of Ethiopia, also dipped under 2 hours by crossing the line in 1:59:41 in his first-ever marathon. Jacob Kiplimo of Uganda broke the previous world-record time, set by Kenya’s Kelvin Kiptum in Chicago in 2023, by seven seconds in finishing in 2:00:28.

Injuries continue leaving a big mark on the NBA playoffs. Minnesota’s Donte DiVincenzo tore his Achilles tendon on Saturday night, which not only ends his season but calls his 2026-27 season into question. BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Red Sox have fired manager Alex Cora, who led them to the 2018 World Series championship. He will be replaced on an interim basis by Chad Tracy, who had been managing the club’s Triple-A Worcester affiliate. The team made the announcement Saturday after a 17-1 victory in Baltimore that snapped a four-game losing streak — including a three-game sweep at Fenway Park by the archrival New York Yankees. The organization said it is also parting ways with five members of the coaching staff: hitting coach Peter Fatse, third base coach Kyle Hudson, bench coach Ramón Vázquez, assistant hitting coach Dillon Lawson, and major league hitting strategy coach Joe Cronin.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — University of Buffalo linebacker Red Murdock is this year’s “Mr. Irrelevant.” He was the final pick of the NFL draft by the Denver Broncos. Murdock expressed gratitude after being selected 257th on Saturday. The Broncos also picked Utah tight end Dallen Bentley just before Murdock. Denver became the only team to hold the last two picks since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970. Broncos coach Sean Payton praised Murdock’s instincts and tackling skills. Both players will attend the traditional celebration for the final draft pick.

SHANGHAI (AP) — Bernd Wiesberger is finally a winner again on the European tour. The Austrian played bogey-free and shot 67 to rally past Adrian Otaegui of Spain and win the China Open. It’s his first victory since Denmark in 2021 when Wiesberger qualified for his only Ryder Cup team at Whistling Straits. He then left for LIV Golf for two years until returning to the European tour. Otaegui had a three-shot lead on the back nine until bogeys on both par 3s. He needed birdie on the par-5 18th to force a playoff but drove into a bush and made double bogey.
Timberwolves lose Anthony Edwards and Donte DiVincenzo to leg injuries in Game 4 against Nuggets
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Donte DiVincenzo’s season ends with an Achilles tendon injury, while Anthony Edwards’ knee injury remains unclear. Minnesota coach Chris Finch shared the news Saturday night after the Timberwolves’ playoff win over the Denver Nuggets. DiVincenzo was injured 1:19 into Game 4, suggesting an Achilles issue. Edwards was hurt late in the first half. Despite losing their starting guards, the Timberwolves, led by Ayu Dosunmu’s 43 points, beat the Nuggets for a 3-1 lead in their series. Banchero added 12 rebounds and nine assists for the Magic. Franz Wagner scored 17 points for Orlando, which got 15 from Jalen Suggs and 14-point from Wendell Carter Jr. Cade Cunningham scored 27 for Detroit, which trailed 96-79 with 8:34 left and then outscored the Magic 26-8 over the next six minutes to grab the lead. Towns had 20 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. The 11th-year All-Star became the fourth Knicks player to record a triple-double in a playoff game, joining Walt Frazier, Dick McGuire and Josh Hart. The Knicks host Game 5 at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night, and the series is now guaranteed to return to Atlanta for Game 6 on Thursday.

PHOENIX (AP) — Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 42 points in a brilliant shooting performance, Ajay Mitchell added 15 in place of the injured Jalen Williams and the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Phoenix Suns 121-109 on Saturday to take a 3-0 lead in the Western Conference first-round series. Gilgeous-Alexander — the league’s reigning MVP — hit 15 of 18 shots on a variety of tough looks, frustrating a Suns’ defense that actually played well for much of the game. Alex Caruso added 13 points off the bench while Chet Holmgren had 10 points, seven rebounds and two blocks. Dillon Brooks led the Suns with 33 points. The Thunder go for the sweep on Monday.
