Escar-oh no! $100,000 worth of snails stolen

Following the Louvre heist, another touchstone of French culture has suffered a robbery.

The U.K.’s The Times reports that a shipment of snails headed for fancy French restaurants has been stolen.

The shipment weighed about 990 pounds and was worth just over $100,000. A police officer says that the snails were “worth almost as much as champagne.”

Hopefully the thieves will be caught at faster than a snail’s pace.
