Why: As one of the nation’s major emergency relief organizations, The Salvation Army is on the ground before, during and after a disaster strikes.
When The Rowena Fire broke out today, the nonprofit was ready to respond quickly and efficiently. The Salvation Army Cascade Division operates The Dalles Family Services and Food Pantry, at 811 E. 2nd Street. The local office is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 1-3 p.m. The food pantry is a “shopping pantry” where clients may come inside and shop for the food items they need.
The Salvation Army’s mission is to meet human needs in God’s name without discrimination.
“As a long-standing part of the community, The Salvation Army will continue to meet community needs during this time,” said Major Jonathan Harvey, Divisional Commander of The Salvation Army Cascade Division. “Additional Emergency Disaster Teams are ready to deploy and assist the community as they are needed in the days ahead and as it is safe to do so.”
How to help: The Salvation Army in The Dalles will need the help and support of the community to continue to serve those in need.
