A New Jersey man’s prized sports car was damaged by an errant cart rolling through a Costco parking lot.
As reported by NJ.com, John Carpenter — no relation to the Halloween filmmaker — had parked his beloved 2011 Camaro 2SS outside a Costco while getting gas when the carts attacked.
“My wife suddenly yells, ‘Get out of here!’ as two shopping carts went flying past the right side of my car from the wind,” Carpenter says. “And no sooner did a third shopping cart come from behind me that I did not see, which slammed into the driver’s front quarter panel of the car.”
The incident dented the car, though luckily didn’t damage the paint. Carpenter paid over $1,000 to have it fixed before learning that Costco would not cover the cost of the repair.
Upon being contacted by NJ.com’s Bamboozled column, a Costco claims representative called Carpenter and offered him a $500 gift card. He’s since signed an NDA and is unable to talk about the case any further.
Perhaps Costco offered him cart blanche.
