Emus are indeed just flightless birds, so perhaps that’s how one got lost wandering around near San Diego.
According to the San Diego Humane Society, an emu was spotted running through the nearby city of Vista, California. The animal was dealing with injuries to its wing and neck.
“The emu will receive medical care while we search for a possible owner,” the organization says.
Perhaps the emu was just looking to help those in need of car insurance.
