People get married, have kids, buy a house at all different ages, but is there a “best” age to reach these milestones?
That’s what Pew Research set out to discover, asking 3,600 American adults their thoughts on the ideal age to hit such life-changing milestones. While most people agree there is no best age, there are plenty of folks who had an opinion on the subject.
The survey finds that overall, 49% of Americans don’t think there’s a best age to get married, although 23% of those asked think that if there was one, it would be between 25 and 29. More specifically, on average the best age to get married is 26 1/2.
When it comes to having their first child, 40% don’t think there is a best age. However, like marriage, 28% think it’s between 25 and 29, with the average best age being 27.3.
As for other huge life milestones, 50% of those polled say there is no best age to buy a home, although on average the poll found that age to be 28.8. While 34% don’t think there’s a best age to retire, on average 61.8 years old was said to be the best.
