Need help falling asleep? Just think about walking through somebody else’s house.
TikTok user emilymeditates — aka Emily Kessler — shared what she calls the “house tour sleep hack” back in August, and since then her video’s been viewed more than 2 million times.
She recommends taking some slow, deep breaths while focusing on every detail of a house you know well, starting outside and then going from room to room. The house you grew up in or your grandmother’s place seems to work well. Kessler boasts she’s “literally never made it upstairs.”
Though the 2,100 comments on her post are somewhat mixed, a 2002 study by the University of Oxford seems to back up the technique.
