We’ve received a number of calls from residents who report being contacted by a member of our office who was being aggressive and and making threats. These are scam attempts, and the callers do not represent the Sheriff’s Office in any way.
If a member of our office has legitimate business that they need to conduct with you over the phone, you can expect that they will be courteous and polite. In no case will they ever ask you to make payments over the phone or make threats.
If you ever have any question as to the legitimacy of a caller claiming to be with our office, you can always hang up and call our dispatch center, asking to be put through to that deputy. The non-emergency number is 541-386-2711.
