With Thanksgiving only days away, the holiday eating season is about to begin, and for many that will likely result in adding a few pounds to the scale.
A new survey of 2,000 people, conducted by Talker Research on behalf of Herbalife, finds that 24% of Americans expect to gain about 6 pounds over the holiday season, and it sounds like taking that weight off won’t be easy. In fact, those same people say they still haven’t lost the weight from last holiday season, which on average is about 10 pounds.
With all the good food out there over the holidays it’s understandable that folks overindulge, with 43% of people saying the end of the year is a great excuse to forgo their healthy eating habits. What’s more, 53% admit to breaking their diet toward the end of the year, with 36% saying it’s simply because they can’t resist holiday food.
Not surprisingly, most folks plan to stop the overindulging once we hit 2025. The poll finds that 65% have already planned to return to their healthy habits in the new year, with most expecting it will take about 18 days for them to pick up or return to a healthier way of life.
