Heading over the river & through the woods? Just don’t go on these days

There are some travel dates you’ll want to avoid if you’re hitting the road or taking to the air for the holidays, according to a new survey.

In November, it’s the day before Thanksgiving, Nov. 27, that’s busiest, followed by the days after Nov. 30, when most folks head home.

Looking ahead to December, the 23rd ranks as the most congested travel time, with the days after Dec. 31 the most common window to return. Florida ranks as the top spot for a November/December vacation.

For New Year’s Eve, New York City ranks as the #1 tourist destination, with most travel happening on Dec. 31 and Jan. 2.
