A new ranking shows that if you live in New Mexico, you better lock your doors.
That’s because the Land of Enchantment topped a list from the company Automatic Technology of the states with the largest number of break-ins. For every 100,000 residents, there are 604 burglaries in New Mexico, the company’s data showed.
Coming in second was Washington, with 563 break-ins per 100,000 people, followed by Louisiana in third place with nearly 498 per 100,000, according to the company.
Rounding out the top five were Oklahoma, with nearly 487 for 100,000 residents, and Arkansas with nearly 467.
On the other side of the coin, the state with the least number of burglaries versus the number of residents was New Hampshire. The Granite State had just under 74 burglaries per 100,000 people.
