Going on a road trip? Here are the states where you’ll probably be stuck in traffic

According to a recent survey from The Vacationer, 75% of Americans plan to take a road trip this summer. If you’re looking to avoid the dreaded “Are we there yet?” from the back seat, you might want to see the results of a new traffic study.

According to numbers crunched by Georgia-based injury law firm Bader Scott, Hawaii is the most traffic-prone state in the union.

On the plus side, you’re still in Hawaii, even if you’re in traffic — and you can’t exactly road trip to get there.

The firm looked at data from the Office of Highway Policy Information to determine “the number of vehicle miles traveled per lane mile for each US state,” ranking each to show which one had the most potential for congestion.

Florida ranked second, according to the data, while New Jersey and California pulled in at #3 and #4, respectively.

Rounding out the top five was Maryland.

And the state where you are least likely to find yourself stuck in traffic? North Dakota.

The ranking notes that this data was collated from January, however, meaning when vacations start things could get even worse, so better pack some patience — and that travel Scrabble.
