Survey says 25% of couples who live together still keep secrets from each other

Can you keep a secret? According to a new survey, you can, and probably do — from your live-in partner, that is.

According to the One Poll survey commissioned by the insurance company Lemonade, one in four people who live with their significant other keep secrets from them.

What’s more, nearly half of those polled say they’ve kept those secrets for more than a year of being under the same roof.

Nearly 70% admit they feel guilty about it — but that’s not causing them to open up: Just 43% of those guilty folks plan to reveal their secrets to their partners.

Twenty-six percent of those polled are hiding things about their past relationships, while 20% keep hidden that they’re doing something that will upset their partner.

Nearly as many, 19%, say their spending habits are known only to them.

According to the poll, millennials and Gen Z are the least open with their partners, with respectively 33% and 27% admitting to keeping things on the down-low.

Baby boomers were the most open with their live-in companions, with just 11% harboring secrets from them.
