Survey shows romance novel readers cram before Valentine’s Day

A new survey of those who love reading romance novels show those books inspire their real-life love lives.

The poll of 2,000 romance novel readers revealed 25% of them brush up on the books to get them in the mood for Valentine’s Day, and 30% of them say those tomes raised their expectations of what a good relationship is.

Nearly just as many, 29%, say the books help shape what they look for in a romantic partner.

To that end, Noah from The Notebook — played on the big screen by Ryan Gosling — was deemed to be the most beloved “book boyfriend,” getting 33% of the votes.

Christian Grey from the Fifty Shades books ranked second at 28%, and Edward Cullen from the Twilight series came in third with 21% of the votes.

As for the best book girlfriends, Anastasia Steele from Fifty Shades came out on top with 27% of the votes; Juliet from Romeo and Juliet was second at 25%, followed by Bella from the Twilight books at 23%.

More than 66% of romantic novel readers say it’s important that their real-life partner share the same qualities as their literary crushes — so step up your game, and get your “door frame lean” right, people.
