Philadelphia’s newest car dealership, City Motors, got a rude awakening when thieves pulled off a heist that would make even Hollywood scriptwriters raise their brows. Less than a week into its grand opening, the dealership lost seven out of its eleven cars to a daring overnight robbery.
Under the cover of darkness, the brazen culprits broke into City Motors, rummaged through the front office, and, remarkably, managed to lay their hands on both car keys and titles — an oddly efficient operation for a place barely open a week.
They also tried hot-wiring an eighth car, a Kia Sorento, but ere unsuccessful.
With no security cameras to capture the audacious heist and zero insurance coverage for the vehicles, co-owner Nathan Kreigler told Philadelphia’s ABC6, “If we don’t recover the cars, we probably won’t survive it.”
City Motors, has had a number of different in recent years, with Kreigler’s venture being the latest victim in a neighborhood that experienced a wave of looting on the same night as the car thefts.
