In a surprising twist during their move into a New Jersey home, Cathy and Roy Aukamp stumbled upon an unconventional treasure concealed behind their basement’s drywall — a whopping 99 bottles of rum.
The discovery occurred when their basement flooded after a storm, necessitating the removal of wet plasterboard, according to the NYPost. As they did, a cascade of empty booze bottles poured out from within the wall, leaving the couple astounded.
Capturing the peculiar moment on Instagram, Roy shook his head in disbelief as the seemingly endless stream of Captain Morgan plastic flasks emerged. Cathy playfully quipped, “Thirsty? It’s five o’clock somewhere!”
Interestingly, the prior homeowner, having witnessed the viral video, reached out to the Aukamps, revealing that there were even more hidden bottles and disclosing that they had achieved three years of sobriety.
