Georgia man dubbed “porch pirate” after stealing a literal porch

A Georgia man is now facing felony charges in a unique case involving the alleged theft of a porch from a neighbor’s front yard, as confirmed by the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office to news outlet WAGA-TV.

Robin Swanger was arrested after he swiped a 8×10 wooden porch, bypassing “no trespassing” signs along the way. While the property looks abandoned — given that the wooden structure was the only thing left behind when the house was removed — the owner asserts that nothing was available for the taking.

Investigators have humorously labeled Swanger a “porch pirate,” a term typically reserved for package thieves. With the porch valued at $3,000, Swanger is charged not only with the porch theft, but also with two counts of domestic violence following his arrest during a response to a separate incident.
