Survey shows a quarter of Americans are in summer mode as early as April

When you were a kid in school, it might have been known as “summer fever” — that inability to focus come spring, thinking about summer vacation.

Well, according to a new survey, you don’t grow out of it: 26% of Americans who took part in a recent poll say they start getting into summer clothes long before June 21, the official start of summer: they’re ready in April.

Fifty-four percent of the 2,000 American adults surveyed on behalf of Chinet say they’re either “very” or “extremely” excited for the start of summer and all it brings.

Notably, cookouts: More than 40% say they plan to eat outside and nearly 60% say they wish they could do it all year round.

Sixty-eight percent say they’re likely to attend more gatherings with friends and loved ones this summer, whether it be for weddings, pool parties or barbecues. Of the latter, respondents say they expect to attend at least five, with 77% looking forward to burgers from the grill, followed by hot dogs (72%), chicken (65%) and ribs (62%).

In fact, 32% say they prefer a hot dog off the grill in the summer over a traditional Thanksgiving feast.
