A museum in Maine is offering a reward to anyone who finds a piece of a meteorite that fell to Earth earlier this year.
The Maine Mineral and Gem Museum has promised to give $25,000 to anyone who finds a piece of the space rock, a rare fireball, which broke apart over the state in late January, NPR reports. The museum has already recovered a number of fragments, but it believes that many more are still out there waiting to be found.
The $25,000 pot is for the first 1-kilogram meteorite found, but they’re not stopping there. The museum is also open to purchasing other meteorite fragments, so it’s time to start scouring the skies for any falling space rocks.
