Remote work has changed the notion of not just what work is, but what vacation is, according to a new survey.
While the old paradigm may have been putting up the ol’ “Gone Fishin'” sign on your office door and going away for a while, a survey of 2,000 remote workers say they’re more than willing to work while they’re on vacation, as long as it meant extending their stay.
And it wasn’t even close: 80% of the remote-working respondents to the poll that was commissioned by Marriott Vacations Worldwide say they would.
For workers aged 26-41, that number climbed to 83%.
In fact, 48% say they’re “just as likely” to work while on vacation as they would be while at their local coffee shop. And 46% said they’d rather take a longer trip that required them to log in rather than a shorter stay away during which they didn’t have to work.
