But a new survey shows we non-green folks have something in common with the character whose heart was once three sizes too small: certain things really get our inner Grinch going. So let’s take a look at them all.
According to the survey of 2,005 Americans, shopping malls and shopping centers cause seasonal stress for 64% of respondents; 59% said airports at the holidays, while 58% say the post office stresses them out this time of year.
Sixty percent say the crowds at these places get their Grinch on; 53% say it’s the lines and 52% say it’s the noise (noise, noise), according to the poll commissioned by International Delight.
Forty-three percent said they hate Facebook during the holidays, 40% say they dislike TikTok and 36% dislike Instagram during the silly season. Seems intrusive holiday shopping ads and insensitive comments get the goats of 48% of those polled.
Overplayed songs were also a cause of stress this time of year, with 25% saying “Jingle Bells” was heard too much, tied with “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”
Incidentally, Mariah Carey‘s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” was ranked fifth in the “overplayed” category at 22% — at least according to this poll.
Survey questions, methodology and results have not been verified or endorsed by ABC News or The Walt Disney Company.
Of course, among all the things The Grinch hated, other than Christmas, in Dr. Suess‘ classic was all the “noise, noise, noise.”
