While many of us have seemingly countless “friends” on social media, when it comes to IRL, the number is more like under a dozen.
That’s the result of a survey commissioned by ABC News’ parent company, Disney: It shows the average adult has 10 good friends — with at least one dating back to when they were both 6 years old.
The survey group OnePoll surveyed 2,000 Britons and also found the average friendship lasts for 17 years. That said, 17% say they’ve had the same best friend for over 30 years.
The survey also noted that the average person spends over 2,000 nights out “over the lifetime of a friendship” and spends 39,000 hours laughing with their pals.
On average, they’ve shared 630 secrets with their closest companions, to boot.
Other treasured qualities respondents noted in a good friend were being a good listener, giving honest advice on their clothing and, of course, being able to make them laugh.
