Survey shows the best and worst cities for sticking to your New Year’s resolutions

It’s that time of year again, when everyone on your social media switches from shots of pumpkin spice lattes to those “New Year New Me” memes. Yes, it’s New Year’s resolutions season.

With this the first workday after the New Year — the first weekend of the new year is always a wash for resolutions, right? — chances are you’ve just now started taking your resolutions seriously.

And while 70% of Americans admit they drop their promises pretty quickly, a new WalletHub survey suggests where you live might influence if you actually keep them.

To that end, the financial whizzes at WalletHub have crunched the numbers, and determined if you live in Scottsdale, Arizona, you have the best chance of keeping your resolutions in 2022.

The site compared 180 cities and looked for 57 data points like ready employment — for those promising to get their financial houses in order — as well as access to gyms, healthy food choices, and open outdoor spaces, to determine which cities hold the most promise for keeping your promises to yourself.

Seattle, Washington came out in second place, followed by San Francisco, California; Irvine, California, and San Diego, California to round up the top five.

Texas was also well represented on the list, with Plano coming in at #8, and Austin ranking #10.

On the other end, WalletHub’s analysts say Newark, New Jersey ranked last, at #180.
