When it comes to vacations, survey says “winging it” wins out

If you’re planning to get away this summer — and who isn’t? — it’s best to just wing it.

That’s the result of a new survey, which shows people who obsessively plan out their vacations are more likely to be disappointed in their holidays than those who fly by the seat of their pants.

In fact, “planners” more commonly referred to their best-laid plans as turning into “complete disasters,” as opposed to their more laid-back counterparts.

And that’s a good thing, considering that 72% of respondents admitted the pandemic has forced them to think on the fly for trip ideas this summer.

The non-scientific survey of 2,000 Americans showed that 40% are just winging it this summer when it comes to getting some R&R. Even 64% of self-described “planners” are taking a more relaxed approach this year, according to the survey commissioned by TravelCenters of America.
