Four men are behind bars because, after robbing a gun shop, they got hungry and decided to order some takeout.
BBC reports three men from Sheffield, England, and one with no address raided the Hardy’s Gunsmiths store in Sheffield back in 2020. As for how Andrew Cross, Andrew Coy, Shabaz Ismai and Musfer Jabbar got caught, police say the latter called up a nearby fast-food joint to order two lamb burgers.
“This crucially placed them at the scene of the burglary,” South Yorkshire police said in a statement. The vehicle on the CCTV footage at the store was also matched to the restaurant, police say.
Police have since recovered about half of the stolen guns and are asking the public for information to locate the rest.
All the men were given prison sentences between five and nine years.
