As New York City was grappling with a major heat wave last weekend — as was most of the nation — the city’s elite was unable to enjoy a respite by their luxury pools because party animals invaded their space.
Page Six spoke to one resident of these so-call luxury apartment buildings, a guy named Kevin, who shells out $4,750 a month for rent — on top of $65 a month for the apartment building’s private pool. He said his building’s residents aren’t causing the crowding — it’s actual party crashers.
“It’s people who know there’s a pool and just walk up… It’s a free-for-all,” he explained. He’s been unable to snag a lounge chair because of rowdy non-residents.
Aside from overcrowding, these intruders are bringing an abundance of booze — which is leading to broken glass and vomit stains, thus turning these posh and pristine pools into frat houses.
This is not only happening to people who live in buildings with pools: Private clubs are also dealing with this. Joseph Bonvouloir, 26, says he forks over $300 a month to use the swim area at Equinox Hudson Yards, where finding a place to relax is impossible.
“On the weekends, if I’m not there at the crack of dawn the wait time is about four hours just to get a chair,” the asset management company CEO griped.
The Post says these crashers are also driving residents out of their buildings or away from these rich people clubs. Dennis Shirshikov, 32, toured an Upper West Side luxury unit but refused to rent it after seeing a large number of partygoers leave empty beer cans in the pool area.
Interestingly, no one mentioned hiring security to keep outsiders away from these pricey pools…
