Woman sues man for $10,000 for standing her up on their first date

This man dodged a bullet when he decided to not show up on the first date.

QaShontae Short is suing the man who stood her up, identified as Richard Jordan, for a whopping $10,000, reports TMZ. She is claiming intentional infliction of emotional distress because Jordan “did not show” to their date, which just so happened to be on her late “mother’s birthday.”

The case went to a hearing before Flint, Michigan Judge Herman Marable Jr. and as expected, things did not go smoothly.

Short and the judge erupted into a heated disagreement, with Marable asking the woman if she understood what “perjury” meant. For the record, she had accused the man of committing perjury for supposedly lying on his dating profile.

Short alleged the judge was “insulting my intelligence,” even though Marable proved she got the definition wrong.

As for Jordan, he was quiet during the explosive hearing — other than saying he thought the entire thing was “a waste of time.” TMZ obtained the video of the virtual hearing, which shows him making some expressions as Short loudly quarreled with the judge.

“I’m not going to sit here and go back and forth with you,” Marable finally said after Short tried putting words in his mouth. “You need to be quiet while I’m talking.” He then muted the woman’s video and explained she filed her suit in the wrong court.

Basically, Short went to the criminal district court when the matter was civil, so the judge punted it to his colleagues in circuit court. He also put the woman on the hook for paying all filing fees, noting that all charges will be dismissed if she doesn’t pay up by the deadline.
