WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, moments after President Biden signed The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act into law, U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) released the following statement:
“This new law includes meaningful steps that will save lives, including creating grants to help states implement crisis intervention programs like red flag laws, enhancing background checks for individuals under 21, and closing the boyfriend loophole so any domestic violence abuser cannot possess or purchase a firearm,” said Sen. Cantwell. “These are important steps, but it is just a start. We have more work to do to keep our kids and our citizens safe from gun violence.”
