“I’ve been tampering on the railroad …”

Some people enjoy playing train by building tracks in their home — but this man takes it to the next level. A Connecticut man with way too much time on his hands has been arrested for literally tampering with numerous active railroad tracks.

Darien Daily Voice reports that rail lines around the state of Connecticut were being vandalized and the damage was enough to cause a train derailment. Police staked out various locations in an effort to capture the culprit; they caught the 63-year-old suspect, identified as Jose Aquino, in the act.

He was spotted by police going to town on the railroad tracks in Waterbury, Connecticut, around 8 a.m. Friday.

It is not known why he was intentionally driving around the state to damage various railroad tracks or what equipment he was using to wreak havoc on the state’s transportation authority and rail commuters.

Aquino has been charged with first-degree damage to railroad property, second-degree reckless endangerment and third-degree criminal mischief. He has since been released on $50,000 bond and is due back in court June 21.
