Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Ron Wyden today issued the following statement on ongoing negotiations on permitting reform:
“Our country is in an energy crisis of Trump’s own making,” Wyden said. “I cannot support a bill that relies on a handshake promise from the same administration that’s spent the last two years waging a war on new clean energy projects to hold up its end of the bargain, and continues to do so even after negotiating the reform proposal. Furthermore, I cannot support a deal that strips Oregonians and tribes of the most important tools they have to hold Trump and his cronies accountable. Democrats have a unique opportunity to negotiate a deal that will reduce red tape for all new energy projects to bring down Americans’ energy costs without substantial risk of political interference.”
