Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham says the FBI is monitoring approximately 20 people she believes may be stalking her.
Speaking on Theo Von‘s podcast, Cunningham said increased attention surrounding the WNBA has brought unwanted and sometimes frightening encounters. She said the situation has raised concerns about her personal safety.
One alleged stalker, 49-year-old Kevin Singh, was arrested in June after authorities say he sent Cunningham threatening and sexually explicit messages and delivered a package to the Fever’s arena. He faces felony stalking and intimidation charges and remains jailed.
According to court documents, Cunningham told investigators the alleged harassment caused nightmares and prompted her to spend more time at home.
The FBI declined to comment on Cunningham’s claims. Her teammate Caitlin Clark has also faced stalking, with a Texas man sentenced to two and a half years in prison last year. (Los Angeles Times)
