Wasco County Clerk suggests citizens use the local Dropboxes for your ballot return

At Wednesday’s Wasco County Commissioners, County Clerk Chrissy Zaugg told Commissioners that a new Ballot Drop box is going to be installed in Tygh Valley at the Community Center.  Once the box is installed, it will have a camera on it for safety purposes.  It will be installed before the 30th of this month.

Zaugg told Commissioner why she prefers citizens to use the drop boxes:

“So, we’re really pushing Dropbox, use a Dropbox because that’s a guaranteed, we’re going to get your ballot. If you send it through the mail, it’s in custody of the mail and mail gets lost. So, we can’t control that. We can’t control how long it takes. So, if you drop it on the 1st, we may not get it in time. So, we’re really pushing use a Dropbox. And you can drop it at any Dropbox in Oregon. So, if you’re in Portland for the day and you have your ballot, whoops, I forgot to drop it. You can drop it in a Multnomah County Dropbox, and they’ll send it to us.”

Commissioner Hege then asked Zaugg where the Dropbox locations are at:

“So, we’ve got two in The Dalles, one at the courthouse, one here at our office on 3rd Street outside, and then there’s also the one in our office. There’s one in Dufur at the City Hall, one in Maupin at City Hall, one in Mosier at City Hall, and then there will be one in Ty Valley, and then there’s one down in Simnasho at the Three Warriors Market.”

If you do intend to mail your ballot, the state of Oregon suggest it be in the mail by the 27th of the month.
