A Florida driver learned the hard way that a laser printer is not a substitute for the DMV.
Authorities say the driver bought a new car, then allegedly snapped a photo of a license plate from another vehicle he owned, printed it out, and taped the paper copy onto the car instead of getting a real registration — as one is legally required to do.
The plan might have worked… if not for one tiny detail. A Florida Highway Patrol trooper in Fort Myers noticed the plate wasn’t reflecting light like a real metal tag. After a traffic stop, the trooper discovered the “license plate” was basically a color photocopy. In fact, the ink on it was also running. The driver now faces a misdemeanor charge. (WTVT-TV Tampa)
