Nine-year-old Kaelyn Goodman was born with a rare muscle-weakening condition and needs a wheelchair to get around. With Halloween coming, up, Kaelyn wanted to be a “princess angel” for her school’s annual Trunk-or-Treat event — but she worried about how her wheelchair would fit the outfit.
That’s when 25 eighth-grade science and engineering students stepped in. They invited Kaelyn into their classroom to create designs, sew, use laser cutters, and ultimately transformed her wheelchair into a stunning, wing-adorned angel throne fit for a princess.
Kaelyn says the magical outfit made her feel extra special. “They made my wheelchair into a beautiful angel throne,” Kaelyn said. “And I got to be a princess angel just like I wanted. My favorite part was seeing how they took my ideas and made them real — and the wings! I felt like a real princess.”
