High school ruse-ical: 28-year-old arrested for pretending to be 16-year-old student

High school was certainly the start of something new for Kacy Claassen: new criminal charges.

According to ABC station WABC, 28-year-old Claassen was arrested after allegedly enrolling in a Bronx high school with a fake birth certificate that said she was 16.

Claassen’s deception unraveled after the school principal discovered her Facebook page, which showed that she was actually 12 years older.

Claassen claimed that a friend forced her to lie about her age in an effort to receive public assistance.

“Enrollment fraud is a serious crime that fundamentally undermines New York City Public School values,” says an NYC Schools spokesperson in a statement. “The NYPD is actively investigating these allegations and will pursue all appropriate legal action against those responsible. We are providing all necessary and suitable support to the school community.”
