As it turns out, it’s not safe to drive a car with an engine of squirrels.
According to FFXnow, a driver in Fairfax, Connecticut, turned on their car and “saw every warning light come on.” Upon further investigation, the driver found a nest of baby squirrels in the engine bay.
The driver called Fairfax County Animal Services, and an officer arrived on the scene and moved the squirrels from the engine to a basket. The officer then set up the basket alongside their phone, which was playing baby squirrel noises in an effort to alert the mother squirrel.
Sure enough, mama appeared and starting “ferrying her babies out of the basket,” according to Animal Services Deputy Director Thomas Ingle.
We assume that the car is running a lot smoother now, too.
