EDMONDS, WA – Yesterday, President Donald Trump signed an executive order that instructs his administration to create a list of voters in each state deemed “eligible” and bars the U.S. Postal Service from delivering ballots to voters not on that list – despite having no Constitutional authority to do so. U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) released this statement:
“This executive order is another alarming attack on Americans’ right to vote. Washingtonians cherish voting by mail because they know it is secure and convenient, but President Trump’s efforts to interfere with mail-in ballots could cause chaos and disenfranchise voters just months before the midterms. The framers were deliberate; the Constitution entrusts election administration to the states.”
