CHP suggests liking and subscribing to safe driving habits

While many challenges in life can be solved by watching YouTube tutorial videos, you don’t need to watch a YouTube tutorial to tell you that watching YouTube while driving is a bad idea.

Nevertheless, that’s apparently what one driver was doing when he accidentally crashed into a California Highway Patrol vehicle.

According to a Facebook post from the CHP, the incident happened while officers were working to clear a separate crash. They had set up a flare pattern to alert any incoming drivers when they noticed a pickup driving right into it.

“One of our officers was standing next to the car, but was alert enough to get out of the way,” the post reads. “Officers on scene immediately checked on the driver, who was uninjured.”

The driver reportedly told officers that “he was changing YouTube videos on his phone and didn’t see the flares or the patrol vehicle lights.”

“Thankfully our officers had great officer safety awareness and were watching oncoming traffic!” the post reads.

If there are any YouTube tutorials on safe driving, we imagine they mention not watching YouTube videos while driving.
