Public meeting set to discuss salmon and steelhead seasons in Central Washington

OLYMPIA – The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) will hold an in-person public meeting in Kennewick on Tuesday, March 17 from 6-8 p.m. to discuss the upcoming salmon and steelhead seasons in the central and eastern regions of the state.

This meeting, part of the annual North of Falcon salmon season-setting process, will focus on fisheries in the upper Columbia (upstream of Highway 395 in Pasco) and Snake rivers. WDFW fishery managers will present forecasts and season proposals, and the public will have an opportunity to provide input.

The meeting will be held at the Kennewick Irrigation District Office, 2015 South Ely Street, Kennewick, WA, 99337.  WDFW will share a pre-recorded presentation covering proposed seasons and fishery guidelines on the meeting webpage prior to the meeting for those unable to attend.

The public is invited to provide input on fisheries or ask questions at the meeting or online through the Public Input portal. For a full timeline of the state’s North of Falcon process, including a public meeting schedule with opportunities to participate in meetings and provide public feedback, visit the WDFW North of Falcon webpage.

All members of the public are invited to share their perspectives and participate in WDFW public feedback opportunities regardless of race, color, sex, age, national origin, language proficiency, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, status as a veteran, or basis of disability.
