What’s loose in New Jersey? A horse, of course!

Cars weren’t the only things with horsepower in this New Jersey town.

The Monroe Township Police Department reports that it was called to address a loose horse wandering around a Jersey neighborhood.

“Officers quickly arrived and identified the horse as Seabiscuit, who quickly fled when confronted,” the department says in a video posted to Facebook.

After what police describe as a “brief foot pursuit” — “Emphasis on foot,” the video quips — the horse was “safely secured and returned without incident.”

In an update to the post, the Monroe Township PD clarifies, “The horse’s real name is not Seabiscuit. We altered his name to protect the identity of the horse!”

“In all seriousness, we appreciate our officers [sic] efforts and those that assisted,” the update concludes. “These types of calls are not entirely uncommon for us and we do our best to protect all of our animal friends that are a part of this community.”
