People in Ireland who thought they spotted a big cat wandering about found that their eyes were lion, er, lying.
Irish police report that a supposed lion that was seen in the county of Clare was actually “a Newfoundland dog with a fresh haircut!”
Indeed, an accompanying photo of the pooch, who is ironically named Mouse, shows its chocolate brown fur shaved throughout its body except for around its neck and head, creating a sort of lion mane look.
Police also confirm that Mouse is “very friendly.”
