This is the kind of dog accident that you wish was just pee on the floor.
North Carolina’s Chapel Hill Fire Department reports that a small fire occurred inside a local house after the family’s dog chewed up an unsecured lithium battery.
The department posted footage of the incident on Facebook, which shows the dog, named Colton, bring the battery onto a rug. Colton then makes a break for it up the stairs when the battery starts to smoke and eventually burst into flames.
“The battery in the video was charged and unplugged when finished. It wasn’t under any recalls, but it wasn’t stored safely,” the video’s caption reads. “Colton was able to get the battery, break its protective features by chewing on it, and ended up causing a fire.”
The post adds, “Thankfully, he wasn’t injured, and other than some smoke damage and a ruined rug, the house is fine.”
Now that we know that everyone involved was fine, let us point out the other animal in the house also seen running up the stairs in the video, who’s definitely going to blame this all on Colton.
