Portland, OR- Multnomah County Circuit Court Judge Heidi Moawad today sentenced 24-year-old Jobanpreet Singh to Life In Prison, with the possibility of parole after 25 years, on his conviction of Murder in the Second Degree. Mr. Singh was further sentenced to a consecutive 10 years on his separate conviction of Manslaughter in the First Degree, for a total of 35 years prison time before he is eligible for a parole hearing.
In total, a Multnomah County jury convicted Singh of Murder in the Second Degree, Manslaughter in the First Degree, four counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon and three counts of Recklessly Endangering Another. Dilrajpal Singh was the victim of murder. His brother, Guriqbal Singh, was the victim of manslaughter. The brothers were former business partners of Mr. Singh and were killed in the midst of a pending civil lawsuit filed to address the break up of their business relationship.
Multnomah County Chief Deputy District Attorney Mariel Mota led the prosecution for the state. After the sentencing she said: “This heinous crime left two children without a father and parents without their sons. We are pleased that the court acknowledged the loss of both lives in her sentence. We wish the sentence was longer. But we also think accountability was delivered by the justice system today.”
Multnomah County Deputy District Attorneys Eric Palmer and Bijal Patel assisted with the case.
DDA Palmer said: “Self defense is not a law you can hide behind. It is meant to preserve life. This defendant took two lives and he was held accountable for it.”
Singh was convicted on August 5, 2025.
