The city of angels and also 20-foot snakes

Welcome to Los Angeles, they have 20-foot-long pythons, apparently.

KTLA reports that LA resident Teresa Sanchez spotted what she at first thought was a very large snake-shaped toy sitting on top of the dumpster at her apartment complex. Upon closer inspection, she thought it was maybe a taxidermy of a snake before it started to move, proving that it was very much not an inanimate object.

“I couldn’t believe it,” Sanchez tells KTLA. “I was like, ‘Am I in Florida? What’s going on here?'”

Sanchez says she first tried calling animal control, but nobody answered. Upon calling the police, Sanchez was told they couldn’t help.

Eventually she got a hold of someone from a reptile rescue and relocation organization, who came and safely removed the python, which appeared sick.

“I wanted to find someone who was more compassionate about animals so that they could hopefully take it, rescue it and nurse it back to health,” Sanchez says.
