Washington, D.C. — Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today issued the following statement after the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released a new analysis showing 53 fewer new drugs would be developed in the coming years due to Trump and Robert Kennedy’s cuts to federal agencies.
“This nonpartisan data confirms our worst fears: Trump and Robert Kennedy’s crusade against science is going to leave the country sicker and poorer,” Wyden said. “When Democrats work to lower drug prices for Americans, Republicans cry bloody murder about the impact on innovation if one or two fewer breakthrough drugs will be developed over the next decade— but cures aren’t worth much if families can’t afford them. This new data showing dozens fewer drugs will be developed will be greeted with damning silence from Trump and his Republican allies in Congress.”
The full analysis from CBO can be found here.
