Fourth-down decision late in second quarter allows John Harbaugh to remain unbeaten vs. his brother and other NFL news

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Coaches normally don’t go for it on fourth-and-1 on their own 16-yard line when they’re trailing 10-7 with 2 minutes to go in the first half. However, when you’re coaching against your younger brother on the opposing sideline, sometimes it is worth it to take a gamble. In the case of John Harbaugh and the Baltimore Ravens, it ended up paying off big time. Mark Andrews’ 2-yard gain on a quarterback sneak not only allowed the Ravens to continue their drive, it ended up later turning into a touchdown that gave them the lead against the Los Angeles Chargers Monday night. It also was the turning point in the Ravens’ 30-23 victory that allowed John to remain unbeaten in three meetings against younger brother, Jim Harbaugh.

Harbaugh brothers share hug at midfield before facing each other for 3rd time

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — John and Jim Harbaugh hugged at midfield during pregame warmups as the Baltimore Ravens took on the Los Angeles Chargers. It’s the third time the Harbaugh brothers have faced off as NFL coaches, but the first since Super Bowl 47 in 2013 when the Ravens beat the San Francisco 49ers 34-31 in New Orleans. The other regular-season game took place on Thanksgiving night in 2011. The Ravens beat the Niners 16-6 in Baltimore. Jim Harbaugh left San Francisco after the 2014 season and went to his alma mater, the University of Michigan, before returning to the NFL this year.

Rams WR Demarcus Robinson arrested on suspicion of DUI after loss to Eagles

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles Rams receiver Demarcus Robinson was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. The California Highway Patrol said Robinson was cited and released the day after he caught a touchdown pass in the Rams’ 37-20 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night. The CHP said its officers observed a white Dodge sedan driving over 100 mph at about 5:13 a.m. on the 101 freeway. The driver identified himself as Robinson, and he had “objective signs and symptoms of alcohol impairment,” the CHP said. After his arrest, Robinson was “released to a responsible party.”

Chargers RB J.K. Dobbins ruled out with knee injury against Ravens

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Los Angeles Chargers running back J.K. Dobbins suffered a knee injury during the second quarter of Monday night’s game against his former team, the Baltimore Ravens. He did not return. Dobbins had 40 yards on six carries before being injured. The Ravens drafted Dobbins in the second round in 2020 but he missed most of two seasons with injuries. He signed a one-year deal with the Chargers during the offseason.

Jets’ Ulbrich says Rodgers ‘absolutely’ remains the team’s starting quarterback

New York Jets interim coach Jeff Ulbrich said Aaron Rodgers “absolutely” will remain the team’s starting quarterback and start Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks. Rodgers turns 41 next Monday and has been hampered at times during the Jets’ 3-8 start by various injuries to his left leg, including a sore knee, sprained ankle and balky hamstring. Ulbrich said Monday that Rodgers came back from the bye-week break feeling healthier than he has in recent weeks. Ulbrich said there has been no discussions about shutting Rodgers down. The Jets have lost seven of eight and are likely to miss the postseason for the 14th straight year.
