Pavement Preservation Project in The Dalles

The City of The Dalles Public Works Department will work on a pavement preservation project on Monday October 14, 2024 through Thursday October 17, 2024 at the following location:

West 6th Street between Chenowith Street and Mt. Hood Street – The eastbound lane on West 6th Street will be closed during work hours on Monday October 14, 2024 and Tuesday October 15, 2024. The westbound lane on West 6th Street will be closed on Wednesday October 16, 2024 and Thursday October 17, 2024. Expect delays.

Motorists, bicycles and pedestrians are asked to use detours around the work zone during work hours. The street will be reopened to the traveling public each evening.

Work hours will be 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Walk up business access will be open during construction. For safety reasons, parking on West 6th Street between Chenowith Street and Mt. Hood Street will not be allowed until the project is complete.

The purpose of this project is to grind out the wheel ruts and replace about 500 feet of pavement in each lane. This street work is expected to restore the pavement structure and provide a smoother and safer roadway.

Please proceed with caution around work areas during construction times and observe all temporary traffic control devices. Thank you for your attention to traveling safety during this work.
